George Gershwin PORGY AND BESS, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong

Ella and Louis' landmark 1957 recording of Gershwin's timeless classic. All tracks were previously released on Verve in 1957. They were re-mastered for this release.  This is a beautiful and well-done 2 record set that the Seller received new in 1976 from his friend, former associate and supervisor of this reissue, Bob Hurwitz. Originally produced by Norman Granz these are monaural recordings. The Gatefold package includes extensive liner notes by Verve founder Norman Granz and noted jazz critic Chris Albertson. The White Label Promo discs are preserved in plastic-lined inner sleeves that were part of this original package.
