I have bundled this set of three lps from the golden era of stereo recordings, they were very difficult to find in the 80s when I was collecting these. I can still remember flipping through unsorted boxes of records and seeing this copy of the Living Stereo Scheherazade pop up sending chills down my spine!
RCA LSC-2446 Scheherazade Reiner/CSO side 1 L2 RY0939-7S side 2 L2 RY0940-10s Had not played through this copy in ages, I just spun side 1 to see how it sounds: there is an above average amount of pops and clicks on this copy. The music and recording is absolutely killer of course, but be aware though the surface appears fairly nice (VG+ on visual) it is noisier than I would have expected. Luscious violin tone though! LP cover shows shelf wear, scuffs, but is strong and complete, no tears. I put the lp in an aftermarket paper and rice paper lined sleeve.
RCA LSC-2435 Sibelius Violin Concerto Heifetz, Hendl/CSO - side 1 L2 RY1842 9S Side 2 K2 RY1843-9S Cover shows shelf wear and is stamped in several places with "Sisters of St. Joseph of Newark The Josephinum" and "Maganavox not for resale" I played through both sides, I was just going to sit through one side but once it got going I could not stop. It sounds fantastic...the surfaces are fairly quiet with a few pops and ticks here and there during the intro but once the music gets ramped up I payed more attention to the music without being terribly distracted by pops. Side two seemed to have a bit more low level surface noise but the music is cut at high level and it was not distracting. The lp has a few scuffs and marks but plays quieter than it appears (in contrast to the Reiner disc above). There are ticks and pops throughout, this certainly is not mint, but it is a very enjoyable listen. LP is sleeved in Discwasher VRP rice paper.
Mercury SR90134 Fiesta in Hi Fi - FR1/FR1 Cover has typical shelf wear and the beginnings of a tear at the bottom seam. Price sticker residue in upper right corner. LP shows scuffs and marks and has typical surface noise and pops and ticks throughout but it sounds killer. I played it through completely and it is just plain fun! Killer music, well recorded and cut at a high level. Yes, there are some distracting artifacts of vinyl, but is is very enjoyable despite it.
I purchased all of these used some time during the 1980s when I was at the peak of record collecting. Since owning them I have cared for them well.
