Almanac Singers - Songs for John Doe
Rare
first recording by the Almanac Singers in their original line-up (Pete
Seeger, Millard Lampell, Josh White and Sam Gary). This album was
actually released by Keynote records, though the owner insisted that,
because of its controversial nature (it was critical of corporations and
the Roosevelt administration during a time of war), it be paid for by
the performers and released under their own pseudonymous label, Almanac
Records. A fantastic piece of leftist, communist American history!
Records are in fantastic shape. Binding of case is tight. Some stains on cover as well as some denting in the corners. Small rip in the bottom of a sleeve.
