THIS
IS A MUSEUM QUALITY PIECE. Note: Most Ramones autographs are on LPs because they sold many more LPs than 45s. This is a very unusual piece, especially for a Ramones fan.
My girlfriend Terri and I saw The
Ramones the first time in San Antonio (The Runaways opened for them) on
February 14, 1978 at Randy’s Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas almost 5 weeks after
the Sex Pistols played there. Terri met
Arturo Vega (their lighting director, graphic designer and in-house artist extraordinaire). He introduced us to the band and every time
we saw them after that, Arturo was always there to facilitate “hello’s”. On April 27, 1981, The Ramones did an
in-store at Wax Trax Record shop in Denver and I got them to sign a handful of
LPs and this 45. Joey and Dee Dee signed in
blue and Johnny and Marky signed in black. BTW, sometimes you see what looks like
a poster of Hitler in a tutu on skis dancing and the word Achtung at the
top with the band's autographs on it. That was the cover to my local Denver/Boulder
punk fanzine, Achtung Magazine. There were a stack of the free 'zines on the counter next to the band
where they were signing and many people had the guys sign that front cover (which they tore off and
kept, throwing away the magazine (ha ha)). Just thought, if you have one or
have seen one, you’ like to know the provenance.
