SR 90183, Bartok Dance Suite, Deux Portraits, Mikrokosmos: Bourree No. 117, and “From the Diary of a Fly”, No. 142 - Antal Dorati, Philharmonia Hungarica Orchestra. This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old FR5/FR5 Indianapolis pressing. It is one of the rarest and best of the Mercury Living Presence LPs and is ranked #8 on Sid Marks’ list of the all-time best Mercury recordings in TAS. The sound is amazing with powerful bass extension and incredible hall ambiance. The stage is wide and deep with huge dynamics and pinpoint imaging. This is my own copy, and the vinyl is very close to NM. The surfaces are clean, glossy and quiet with no pops, clicks or skips – there are only two very light tics on side 1 and a few light paper scuffs that make no sound. The vinyl grading is NM. The labels are clean and look new with only very minimal spindle wear. The jacket is NM except for some dates and a price written on the top back side (see photos). In summary, this is a beautiful copy of this wonderfully dynamic golden age recording. Feel free to return for full refund if not completely satisfied.
