Black Sabbath
Self-titled first album, released 13th February 1970
GENUINE VERY FIRST ENGLISH PRESSING.
This is a genuine FIRST English pressing of Sabbath's monumental first album, which has been a treasured possession of mine since I was a teenager (54 now :-).
The REAL DEAL - a genuine FIRST ENGLISH PRESSING with the following identifying features (see pics, too): Band member names in CAPITALS on gatefold inner, with the mis-spelt OSSIE OSBOURNE "Copyright subsists in all STEREO recordings..." on gatefold inner Side B states "A PHILIPS RECORD PRODUCT" below VERTIGO Matrix stamps V06 1Y * 1 / V06 2Y * 1
I listened to it today, after 30 odd years, and it still plays beautifully and sounds AMAZING - it brought tears of joy to my eye. Only very minor (and typical) surface noise and the occasional click - nothing to spoil the thrill of listening to a nigh-on fifty-year-old masterpiece. Hairline scratches, nothing deep, and no jumps. Message me if you want to hear sound samples (and prepare to be blown away).
Sleeve is in good condition, with only a few blemishes commensurate with age, and partial delamination of the spine (see pics). The inner sleeve is an early 70s plastic/paper effort, not the Vertigo swirl inner, but it has protected its contents well.
Potential buyers please note: This is VINYL, not a CD. The sound is powerful, raw and earthy, and exhibits typical surface noise and clicks not present on the sterile digital format. This adds to, rather than detracts from, the listening experience. If you cannot tolerate this, go for the excellent double CD deluxe package instead.
