Given that Amp Fiddler's last solo album dropped way back in 2006, it would be fair to say that Motor City Booty has been a long time coming. It sees the legendary Detroit based vocalist, musician and producer join forces with London's Yam Who for a set that successfully draws on the best of both artists' styles. So while Fidder's dusty, soulful vocals and rich keys take centre stage, they're surrounded by beats and musical elements closer to Yam Who's greatest obsessions: namely P-funk, boogie, deep house and disco. Admittedly, these are styles close to the Detroiter's heart, too, but this is arguably the first time that he's explored them extensively. The results are predictably impressive.
