The Beatles : Please Please Me 1963 (Later Stereo Press)

This stereo pressing is in wonderful condition.  The audio plays to a very high standard as detailed below.  The G & L cover is very clean and it contains the original inner sleeve.

Later 1/1 Stereo issue, pressed between 1971 and 1973 on Black Parlophone label with two white-black EMI logos.  'The Gramophone Co. Ltd' etc is printed around the top edge and "Made in GT. Britain" along the bottom edge of the labels.

Visual grading

This vinyl has been superbly looked after and has only been lightly played as there is not a great deal of spindle wear on either side.  It still has a lovely glossy sheen and I can only detect 3/4 faint hairlines under a strong bright light and there are no scratches.  This is most definitely one of the cleanest vinyls of this classic debut album I have seen in a long time.  Very rare also for the cover to have no writing or serious marking.

Play grading  

The opening track 'I Saw Her Standing There' plays with wonderful clarity with no interference of any kind.  'Misery' also plays with the same quality.  It's very rare for a vinyl of this age to play without crackle.  'Anna (Go To Him)' only has the lightest of static here and there but it is totally non-intrusive as is so much in the background.  The remainder of the side has a clarity that is second to none and there is complete silence between the tracks.  There is just no crackle and there are certainly no clicks or pops.  There is perhaps a little distortion on the top level but that is especially common on these pressings, a little more prevalent on the final track, 'Please Please Me' although it still plays exceptionally well.

'Love Me Do' on Side Two plays with breathtaking quality and with no interference apart from one light 'tick'.  'P.S. I Love You' equals this superb standard and has no 'background' at all.  'Baby It's You' more again has exceptional audio with only one dull pop towards the end.  The remainder of the side plays with same incredible depth and clarity with only the odd dust tick here and there.  Once more there is no crackle and no other clicks or pops and certainly no jumps.  With complete silence between tracks again this side more than equals the quality of Side One.

Cover

The G & L laminated flipback cover is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear.  The edges and spine are beautifully clean with no rubbing and only the top corner of the opening has a minimal amount of wear.  The laminated front cover is in lovely condition with no splits or lifting and only a handful of tiny creases.  The back cover is very clean with only 3/4 small age related marks and the flipbacks remain in great shape with only very light marking, no bad staining which is very common.  Most importantly there is no writing anywhere.  Overall this is a very clean cover for one that is 45+ years old.

Inner sleeve

The original sepia coloured inner sleeve is in superb condition and has no splits or tears just some very light creasing.

Labels

The labels are in great condition with only a little spindle wear on each side.  No marks or writing at all.
