MEET THE BEATLES OPEN END INTERVIEW CAPITOL COMPACT 33 & PICTURE SLEEVE EX/NM

One of the earliest reissues of a high-dollar sacred treasure...BLACK vinyl.
The later run of the mill reissues were on colored vinyl. Really nice copy !!

The Compact 33 vinyl is MINT and appears unplayed. The labels are MINT.
The sleeve is VG/EX with NO rips, NO tears, NO seam splits, NO writing, NO fading, and NO tape !! Some almost undetectable, very minor ring wear

Keep in mind, this is a reissue. The original record sells for $3000-$5000.
A real nice way to get this into your collection without spending a fortune !!

To promote the Meet The Beatles album and their upcoming first American visit, Capitol Records conducted an interview with the Beatles. Discs of the recorded interview were then sent to American radio stations.
This promotional disc also contained 3 tracks from the album, This Boy, It Won't Be Long, and I Want To Hold Your Hand.

THE BEATLES OPEN END INTERVIEW
CAPITOL PRO 2548
ORIGINAL RELEASED: FEBRUARY 1964

COMPACT 33 SLEEVE & DISC PROMOTION COPY "NOT FOR SALE"
TO ENCOURAGE DISC JOCKEYS TO PROMOTE THE BEATLES, CAPITOL PREPARED OPEN-END INTERVIEW RECORDS THAT ALLOWED A DISC JOCKEY TO GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE WAS PERSONALLY CONDUCTING AN IN-STATION INTERVIEW WITH THE GROUP. THE ILLUSION WAS CREATED BY COMBINING A SCRIPT OF STATEMENTS AND QUESTIONS TO ASK THE GROUP WITH A RECORD CONTAINING GAPS OF SILENCE FOR THE DJ TO READ THE SCRIPT BETWEEN THE PRERECORDED RESPONSES OF THE BOYS.

AS PART OF ITS BEATLES CAMPAIGN, CAPITOL SENT COPIES OF THE FIRST BEATLES INTERVIEW RECORD TO BROADCASTERS IN FEBRUARY, 1964. IT WAS TITLED "THE BEATLES OPEN-END INTERVIEW". THE INTERVIEW RECORD WAS PRODUCED BY JACK WAGNER, WHO APPARENTLY PREPARED THE SCRIPT AND EDITED COMMENTS OF THE GROUP TO FORM A BRIEF INTERVIEW LEADING UP TO THE PLAYING OF THE HIT SINGLE "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND". THE SECOND AND FINAL OPEN-END WAS THE BEATLES' SECOND ALBUM, RELEASED IN APRIL 1964.

THE BEATLES' OPEN-END INTERVIEW DISC (CAPPRO 2548.01, SPIZER) WAS SENT WITH A BLACK & WHITE PICTURE SLEEVE (CAPPRO 2548.PS1, SPIZER). THE STRAIGHT CUT SIDE CONTAINS THE TEXT OF THE INTERVIEW PRINTED BELOW THE TITLE OF THE DISC. THE DJ LINES ARE IN BOLD PRINT AND THE BEATLES RESPONSES ARE IN ITALICS.

The Beatles' open-end interview disc was sent with a black & white picture sleeve. The straight cut side contains the text of the interview printed below the title of  the disc. The DJ lines are in bold print and the Beatles responses are in italics.
The flip side of the sleeve has "PRO 2549" centered at the top and includes two tracks from their first US Capitol album.
