Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

Vinyl in brand new condition. No surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover & extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster in perfect condition.

Vinyl shows some signs of having been played, but very little lessening in sound quality. Cover & packaging may have slight wear and/or creasing.

Vinyl has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on cover or extra items, without major defects, is acceptable.

Vinyl has been played so much that sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, maybe some distortion and mild scratches. Cover & contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Vinyl still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. Cover & contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Vinyl will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. Cover & contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Vinyl unplayable or might even be broken. Only of use as a collection filler.
