French duo Zombie Zombie return to DJ Gilb'R's Versatile label with their fifth album for the label, yet another slow-burning cross-cross of dance music psychedelia. Livity is an album of pace and wonder, endlessly ignoring the common practice found across many 'dance' tunes, and applying some best-in-class lessons from progressive rock, jazz, and everything in between. Of course, moments like "Hippocampe" or "Looose" do provide some dance floor comfort, but it's the vast and open-ended spirals of percussion and harmonics on tunes like "Acera" which make take this from being a good dance music album to an absolutely stellar piece of experimental music.
