So there is this debate b/t Discogs contributors and the Misfits central to whether this version is an actual first press or the first pressing after Caroline took over Plan 9. Discogs writers think my version is a pressing made on the Caroline press that uses leftover Plan 9 jackets. The Misfits folks say mine is a variant of the first pressing, but many say they are consistently wrong. Discogs writers also say mine is likely a first press variant from Caroline print due to the sloppy printed labels used over and over. That makes the most sense.

So, at the worst it is first pressing Caroline variant that uses a first pressing Plan 9 jacket. That is good any way you shake it.

One more good note: I asked the Discogs contributor—a virtual walking encyclopedia of Misfits vinyl pressings—about the price and he told me it was definitely worth what I am asking for it, if not more. Given collectible nature of Misfits vinyl, I'd venture to guess that this is one record that will sustain its value and likely appreciate over time.

Here is what I got:

Vinyl is thin and translucent (check for Plan 9 and early Caroline poly); Cover bricks are light purple (check for ealry first pressing on Plan 9); The "Misfits Wolfs Blood" lettering on the back is black with light purple outline (check for Plan 9 jacket); the jacket is white inside (well, it was; it's yellowed a bit) (check for Caroline); and there are no Caroline markings anywhere. The label has two rings and sloppy lettering (check for early Caroline).

The label has two spindle rings, an inner one and an outer. Some believe this comes from the Caroline spindles and that the jackets used on these "Caroline first pressings" were leftovers from Plan 9. On Side 1, the deadwax includes the handwritten "PL-902-A" followed with the stamped "MASTERDISK" and a stamped oval "EDP". My side one has the handwritten "SM 3" and a backwards dollar sign two inches forward. The "S" in "SM 3" looks like it can vary between an SH and a SAV, which are initials associated with an engineer or something (forgive me, I am a REPLACEMENTS fan. We just had to worry about how fucked up the band would be when they hot the stage, not some crazy variant to a vinyl record.) Again, disagreements exists between the S being marked out or initials. I am not qualified to make that decision.

Side 2 MATRIX reads the etched "PL-902 B" with the stamped MASTERDISK followed by an etched "M3" then the oval stamped EDP.

The vinyl is VG and has some marks and scruffs on it. But it is still shiny. The labels are in great shape as far as their used condition, the printing just sucks. Be sure you also read the condition description I have also posted for more info on this.

Here is what I think: that this one is from around 87 but uses an original jacket with white inside panel.

I don’t know what the OG inner sleeve was, but I will put it in a master static free sleeve when I ship it and give you the white inner that was in it when I purchased it.

It plays great and I have not caught any skips or loud pops. There may be one or two lower audible pops, but that has to be it

If you have any questions, just ask. I'll do my best.

PACKING THIS PIECE OF ROCK 'N' ROLL HISTORY WILL BE OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO ME.

See my feedback. I will meticulously package this record to arrive safe and sound. I use plenty of packaging and reinforce my corners with extra strips of cardboard plus shrink wrap and more packaging.

I am ONLY asking $80. Danzig and Misfits vinyl is desirable and seems to be only appreciating faster and faster.

How many of you threw around your 7” 3-pack at the skate ramp? Or wish you had kept the envelopes Glenn personally addressed and sent you after he received mom's check with her cursive handwriting that read "records" in the little reminder line at the bottom to the left of her signature?

NOTE: If you wish to buy this outside of the U.S., please make sure you have over 200 feedback points.
