This is the earliest of the first pressings as can be seen by the matrix numbers and -1-1 / -1-1 is not even listed on the pinkfloydarchives site!  The vinyl has been hardly played and it plays with stunning quality.

Visual grading

This vinyl is in pristine, immaculate condition and I would say only ever played 2/3 times if that as there are a couple of spindle lines on each side only.  It has a beautiful glossy jet black sheen like a new vinyl and I cannot any hairlines and there are certainly no scratches.  Absolutely stunning!

Play grading  

The super quiet 'The Post War Dream' has great clarity from the word go.  With a small number of dust ticks on the intro and a couple of light clicks only the audio is of a wonderful standard and the second half in particular is stunning.  The remaining tracks on S1 impress with immaculate playback the likes of which is rarely heard on a genuine A1/B2 first pressing.  It is impossible to pick a highlight as the audio is of such an impeccable standard.  I rarely grade as Mint- but this incredible vinyl infinitely deserves it and the minus is only used as the album isn't sealed!  With so many mega quiet sections the clarity is of the highest standard possible and except for the first track, which still plays with excellent quality, S1 is 'like new'.  The audio is absolutely astounding I cannot believe this is nearly 35 years old.  The depth and warmth of the sound is sublime - what a stunning start to this often underrated album. 

'Get Your Filthy Hands Off My Desert' begins S2 in the same stunning style as S1.  For such a quiet opener there is barely any 'background' and the audio displays incredible clarity.  'The Fletcher Memorial Home' similarly has no static/crackle at all but there are three light clicks about one minute in.  Aside from that the sound is of Mint quality.  The remaining tracks are a reminder of why vinyl is making such a resurgence.  The many quiet passages play with such delicate precision and louder tracks such as 'Not Now John' have no distortion and are 'as new'.  'Two Suns In The Sunset' ends the album with perfect audio and not one iota of interference.  A superb end to an album playing with Mint audio practically all the way through.

The Gatefold

The gatefold is in wonderful condition and has only very minor shelf wear.  The edges and spine remain very clean with minimal wear and only the bottom corner has a small amount of rubbing.  The front cover is extremely clean with only a couple of tiny creases by the spine and as can be seen the sticker is still attached and in great shape.  The back cover is in exemplary condition and the inside is immaculate.  The opening edge is also in perfect shape with no handling wear at all.  A superb example overall of this gatefold.  

Inner sleeve

The original black poly-lined sleeve has no splits or tears and has only very minor creasing.  It is in fantastic condition.

The labels

They are both unmarked and have only a couple of wispy spindle traces on each side as stated.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers

This record has been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
