This is the 2017 reissue of 'Succubus' - the second album by the now defunct Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation. Originally released in 2009, it is seductive, murky and atmospheric but perilous - a new combination of drones and jazz. The band evolved with the use of a stronger horns section and a focus on hypnotic, soundtrack-like material. Like their parent project The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, it is faithful to the original concept of drawing inspiration from movies (namely Jess Franco's film of the same name), then recording what later became the contents of this album. Franco's iconic 1969 movie, with its strong erotic mood, fragmented storyline and dreamy photography encompasses perfectly the goal and means of the band. Founded in Utrecht 2007, The MFDJC project publishes only completely improvised recordings and serves as a direct counterpart to the Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, whose operation is determined by a linear composition.
