Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 albums collected over a period of more than 45 years! Being an avid collector of Uriah Heep UK pressings I have acumilated many many copies of this album and many variations on both labels and audio mixes! This album has been carefully stored in a case, with the sleeve and cover seperated from the vinyl.  I have many many copies of all of the Uriah Heep UK albums! This iis the earliest and original 1st UK issue note cat no:ILPS 9213 features A1 B1 Matrix endings! (only 1st press) 46 years old like this! The vinyl is in awesome condition and  looks barely ever played in my opinion, it has obviously only ever been played a handful of times ever very rare to find like this,  Excellent plus to very, very near mint awesome top audio on all frequencies! (Very minor isolated static ticks/pops heard to mention only), no distortion or signs that this has been over played. Importantly no loud constant clicks or pops.  I know how hard it is to find a vinyl that plays through as good as this sounds, having many copies and variations of this album. This is the best and most vibrant copy that I have heard. (louder cut that later issues)

Becoming very hard to find like this with vibrant clarity audio quality! Very collectable and sought after like this!

The gatefold is also in superb condition clean and straight with light rubbing wear to mention graded at least excellent  complete with the correct record sleeve!

The Magician's Birthday is the fifth album by British rock band Uriah Heep, released in 1972 by Bronze Records in the UK and Mercury Records in the US.




The concept was "based loosely on a short story" written by Ken Hensley in June and July 1972.





In a retrospective review, Sputnikmusic praised The Magician's Birthday, saying, "Though probably not as cohesive as it could be, it still offers plenty of highlights, earning its place among Heep's finest albums". Reviewer Daniel Dias singled out "Sunrise", noting that it was "a highlight in Heep's catalog and one of the band's finest progressive rock ballads". AllMusic noted the album's prog elements as well, and said, "The Magician's Birthday never quite hits the consistent heights of Look at Yourself or Demons and Wizards but remains a solid listen for Uriah Heep fans".





The Magician's Birthday was certified gold by the RIAA on 22 January 1973.

The vinyl
This is the heavier and thicker original type of vinyl and therefore much more robust! later press were much more flimsier! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable, and is free of any warping! Visually there are isolated light surface marks/ scratches only but nothing too bad that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops. any other marks would be sleeve removal only. Perhapes the ocasional isolated static type ticks or pops only. No marks that are deep to cause any skips or jumps at all. 

 

The Audio

The audio was superbe, crystal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of any groove ware or that this has been overplayed at all! So rare to find like this for a 46 year old vinyl! absolutely top louder cut audio than later pressings! The Audio is Graded at least excellent plus to very Near Mint for the most part!

Points to note! this album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years! from my personal experience this vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play!,, as biuld up of dirt and dust in the grooves over a period of laying dormant causes static crackle! constant cleaning drasticly reduces this and greatly improves the audio quality!
all tracks play awesome with (no) loud clicks pops or any major interfearance.

 Absolutely top stunning audio on all frequencies!

please note!! I always add this disclamer! i have described as usual this vinyl giving my honest opinion on the audio quality! please allow for the odd static tick or crackle (not) consistent throughout the audio!! this is a genuine original 46- year old vinyl that would have been originally played on a 46 year old system! in my personal opinion this played through with (no) clicks pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps and is graded at the very top! on all frequencies!

 

The labels
These are the 1st UK issued Bronze labels! Cat No ILPS 9213
Very feint spider traces can just be seen if looked for carefully only.

All indications are that this has had only minimal play in my opinion. There is liitle if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round.

The Record Sleeve

This is a plain white poly lined sleeve. Light creasing fading/staining with age no splits or tears.

Note: there is no lyric insert sleeve with this album.

The cover
This is the original 1st issue un laminated gatefold cover. Printed by Robor and has the correct cataloge number "ILPS 9312" printed on the rear. (only 1st issues, later issues have a different cataloge number) is clean and straight without any edge splits or tears! NOTE: There is some rubbing wear on the front to mention and can be seen in the photos, light rubbing at ther edges only noticed if looked for in my opinion.  All text is readable. In general this is clean and straight. Graded at least better than excellent  in my opinion.
