UK producer Matthew Bourne composed his new opus over 18 months, during a period of disillusionment. The pieces that make up the Isotach LP were recorded in between bouts at his dayjob, creating soundtrack scores and session work. These improvised, live to tape recordings became a cohesive and emotionally fulfilling body of work, however Bourne admits that he hadn't practised piano in years. He describes the practice as a 'daily communion that was once automatic and subconscious' but less frequently exercised until now. This collection of reflective and contemplative passages range from the sombre to elating, allowing his expressive performance to resonate with a beautiful sense of longing. This marks his third release for the Leeds based Leaf Recordings, following up last year's tremendous Moogmemory LP.
