This final upgrade archive pressing plays with immaculate audio and comes complete with an immaculate gatefold which still includes the collectable transparent sticker.  The lyric inners are in perfect condition.  A stunning package the likes of which is rarely seen.

Visual grading

The vinyls are in superlative condition, practically 'as new'.  Only S2 has one very faint hairline and that has no affect on the audio.  So rarely do you find such an early pressing with a visual quality such as this.  They both have a mirror like jet black sheen and there are certainly no scratches.  With only one tiny spindle trace on S2 and S4 it has patently obvious they have hardly been played, perhaps once or twice at most and that is borne out by the stunning audio quality.  The run out grooves and labels are also 'as new'

Play grading  

The super quiet intro on 'In The Flesh' plays with perfect precision and only a hint of barely audible static.  The remainder can only be described as Mint- the audio is so impressive.  This is truly a superb opening track, the clarity is stunning.  'The Thin Ice' is equal to that and once again plays 'as new'.  There are no clicks or pops and no static or crackle either.  A couple of mega quiet dust ticks only, this is audio at its very best and the reason why we listen to vinyl!  You cannot get this depth and warmth from any other medium.  'Another Brick In The Wall part 1' carries on in the same vein and has amazing clarity once more.  With only a minor (and I mean very minor!) touch of mega quiet static this is fantastic audio.  This track has so many quiet sections and yet there is no intrusive 'background' of any kind.  Absolutely stunning!  The remainder of the side plays to the same exacting standard and 'Another Brick In The Wall part 2' is just Mint as simple as that.  Plus it doesn't get much better than the quiet intro on 'Mother'.  It is 'as new' and the clarity and depth across the entire track is of the highest order.  Already I am running out of adjectives for this album!  This is an incredible Mint version of this track and I have never it play as clean and as immaculate as this.  I am sure many sellers would grade this side as Mint but I will err on the side of caution and grade as Mint- but only because of a handful of super quiet dust ticks.

The 'birdsong' on 'Goodbye Blue Sky' plays so clearly and has only one faint 'tick' but barely any static on the intro.  This is so rare to find as so often the opening grooves have some marking/groove wear and thus some interference but there has certainly been no obvious 'background' on the S1 or S2 intros.  The rest of the track does not disappoint and is 'as new'.  Wow!  The majority of 'Empty Spaces' is of course so quiet and yet there are no clicks or pops.  There is just the odd mega quiet dust tick but in no way are they intrusive, they are barely audible and quite often repeated plays will remove them.  You will find this even with new vinyl and the track still grades as Mint- it is that good.  'Young Lust' goes one better and is Mint in my educated opinion.  Every section plays with stunning clarity and the guitar solo has no distortion at all.  'One Of My Turns' has very little static on the opening section and continues to play with very precise sound.  The odd light static sound here and there but nothing intrusive.  For a vinyl that is very nearly 40 years old the clarity is still super impressive!  The louder section then plays with Mint quality.  The long quiet intro on 'Don't Leave Me Now' plays very clearly but there are 3/4 static sounds that are a little more obvious but they are not clicks!  I grade honestly and just list what I hear and I do sit very close to the speakers!  As the track builds the sound is superb and again plays 'as new'.  'Another Brick In The Wall part 3' plays faultlessly and 'Goodbye Cruel World' closes the side with very clear audio but with a small number of static sounds here and there.  This is common being the final track on the side but the clarity is still very impressive.

'Hey You' on S3 plays with exceptional quality from the very first groove.  With no intrusive 'background' this is 'high end' audio without doubt.  The precision is incredible and it is rare to hear this classic play so clearly.  There are no clicks or pops and certainly no crackle.  Totally breathtaking!  The guitar solo is immense and you can turn it up loud with no fear of distortion.  The remainder plays to the same standard - if you want a Mint version of this track then this is the one to listen to!  The mega quiet 'Is There Anybody Out There' is again incredible!  This is as close to 'new' as you will find.  To have such astounding clarity on an acoustic number from a vinyl pressed in '79 is not often found today.  The instrumental section  following the vocal just has a small number of totally non-intrusive dust ticks.  Not one click or pop.  'Nobody Home' also plays with super clear audio and many would deem this as Mint.  Again just a few barely audible dust ticks but I repeat you will have this on a vinyl pressed this year and this first pressing is nearly 40 years old!  The clarity is immaculate.  'Vera' is very nearly of the same standard but with a couple of light clicks but no other obvious 'background'.  'Bring The Boys Back Home' is stunning from beginning to end and the version of 'Comfortably Numb' that follows just has to be heard to be believed!  It plays with superb sonic quality and the depth and power on offer is second to none.  The iconic guitar solo often plays with some distortion but there is none here.  This is a suitably fantastic ending to the side that for the vast majority plays with Mint quality audio.

'The Show Must Go On' is stunning from beginning to end and provides a Mint start to S4.  There is no interference of any kind and the segue into 'In The Flesh' is 100% perfect.  I do not wish to repeat myself but this plays in immaculate fashion.  Another mention for the clarity here - it is quite simply exceptional and there is just no 'background' at all.  I cannot emphasise enough just how well it plays and the same applies to 'Run Like Hell'.  It plays with faultless Mint audio and you will not find another playing with such impeccable definition.  No distortion whatsoever.  The other tracks on the side are equal to this, there is no need to grade each one individually.  As I often say the real test of any vinyl is how well the quiet tracks play and I am pleased to report 'Stop' plays with perfect precision throughout.  'Outside The Wall' only has a small number of dust ticks and a couple of crackle sounds but still plays very clearly.  Not quite perfect but it is still a very impressive ending to album that plays with Mint audio for the vast majority.

In summary this is a final upgrade archive museum piece of that I am certain.  This first pressing plays with incredible clarity and definition and barely any interference.  There are a couple of light clicks only but hey there are four sides of music here!  I grade honestly and with integrity as all my regular customers know and this is without doubt one of the cleanest versions of this classic album that I have ever heard.  It is also rare to find such an impressive gatefold and as can be seen still has the transparent sticker.  The lyric inners are also in superb condition.

The Gatefold & Sticker

This gatefold is in superb condition and has only very minor wear.  When opened it does not lie flat i.e. the spine is still extremely strong due to it very rarely being opened.  The edges and wide spine are 'as new' and have no rubbing or marking and even the corners have hardly any wear.  Only the top corner of the spine has only very minor creasing.  The opening edges are equally as good and have no handling wear at all.  This cover is notoriously difficult to keep clean due to its 'white' nature but this one has been preserved fantastically well.  There is no discolouration and all I can see is a minor amount of fading near the bottom edge of the front cover.  The back cover is supremely clean and the inside of the gatefold is in pristine condition.  A super impressive gatefold if ever there was one!  This also has the transparent sticker which remains in superb condition with no creasing.

As per all the early pressings the gatefold is cream coloured and has misaligned bricks.  The band members are also not listed on the inside and of course there is no barcode.  A superb example of this iconic gatefold.

Lyric sleeves

These are quite simply Mint like they have never seen the light of day!  The print is so strong and bold and there are no side splits or tears at all.  There is also no creasing or marking, in a word pristine!

The labels

As stated the vinyls have hardly been played and the labels thus remain in wonderful condition.  With only one tiny spindle trace on two labels it would be nigh on impossible to find cleaner versions.  There is no marking or writing to be seen.  Stunning examples.
