Jazz 1U/1U (1st pressing with Attached Poster)

This first pressing has excellent audio and only a minimal amount of 'background'.  Much of the audio is of Near Mint quality.  The infamous poster remains 100% attached to the gatefold which is very much a rarity today.

 Visual grading

  This vinyl is in excellent condition and retains a very healthy glossy sheen.  There are only a few faint hairlines with just a 2/3 that are a little more obvious on S2.  There are no scratches.  Overall this vinyl is very clean and is an excellent example for a first press.  I suspect this record has only been lightly played as there is no spindle wear at all.  The labels and run out grooves are also in great condition.

Play grading

The intro on 'Mustapha' plays superbly with barely any static and then impresses with great clarity throughout.  As the guitar 'kicks in' the power is stunning and it plays with a wonderful depth and bass also.  The remainder plays very clearly with only a minimal amount of light static, nothing intrusive though.  A very impressive version without doubt.  'Fat Bottomed Girls' plays so clearly from the outset and has only a hint of light static just after the intro.  From that point on the audio plays extremely well and you can only hear the odd static sound every now and then.  The second half in particular is superb and has no 'background' of any kind.  'Jealousy' plays with great clarity throughout and there is only a modicum of mega light static here and there.  Much of this ballad plays with Near Mint quality without doubt.  Just a little crackle on the fade out.  'Bicycle Race' plays with exceptional power and clarity and there is nothing here that detracts from the quality of the audio.  Even the start of the 'bell ringing' section has no interference!  To the end this classic plays with superb precision.  'If You Can't Beat Them' plays with 'high end' audio from start to finish and only a couple of inconsequential dust ticks.  There is no intrusive 'background' at all.  This track often plays with some distortion on the end section but I am pleased to say there is none here and it plays with great depth, bass and power.  'Let Me Entertain You' is also without distortion which is even more of a rarity!  It plays incredibly well, a fantastic Mint- version for sure.

'Dead On Time' has only a couple of light static sounds on the intro and then demonstrates immense power and clarity throughout.  There is just a minimal amount of static on the fade out.  'In Only Seven Days' has minimal light static on the intro and soon disappears.  It then plays very clearly but with two clicks in the middle and some crackle right at the end.  'Dreamers Ball' again has a little crackle at the beginning although it doesn't last long.  Thereafter it plays very well and with only light static here and there.  It is largely in the background so not particularly intrusive and there are no clicks or pops.  'Fun It' plays with exceptional audio and barely any 'background', a superb version.  The quiet intro on 'Leaving Home Ain't Easy' is very impressive and has no obvious 'background' at all.  The remainder plays with perfect sound quality apart from a little crackle on the final note and it definitely grades as Near Mint in my opinion.  The classic 'Don't Stop Me Now' has only minimal static on the intro and then plays with stunning power and clarity to the very end.  Just a little obligatory static on the fade out!  'More Of That Jazz' ends the album with superlative audio.  With only a couple of light 'ticks' it provides a fantastic ending to this first pressing and easily qualifies as Mint- it plays that well.

The Gatefold

The G&L cover has the embossed 'Jazz' logo on the front and back cover and as stated the poster is still attached.  It has a little shelf wear although nothing major.  The top edge of the front cover has some rubbing but the very others are very clean.  There is also a small tear on the bottom edge by the right corner.  The wide spine has some 'rubbing' also but remains 100% legible.  The opening edge has barely any handling wear.  The front cover is in excellent shape with very little fading, no marking, and only a small number of creases plus one small tear repair bottom right.  The back cover is very clean with very little marking and what you can see is very faint anyway.  The inside of the gatefold is in immaculate condition with no marking.

Picture inner & Poster

The laminated picture inner is in excellent condition with no splits and only a Produced on heavy duty card the glossy inner is is in excellent condition with no side splits and just one very small tear on the top edge.  There is one laminate crease on the black credits side.  The poster is in superb shape with no marking, tears or creasing.

The labels

They are both in beautiful condition with no marking or writing and no spindle wear.
