From her beginnings as part of the Laurel canyon set, Joni Mitchell has gone on to become one of the most accomplished singer songwriters of the late 20th century. Throughout her career her music has continued to evolve and astound ranging from folk, pop, jazz and even avant-garde. Mitchell has many contemporaries but none experimented so much with their artistic identities or so bravely explored territory outside of the accepted confines of pop music.
This special limited edition of the Dutch pressing of ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ is presented on orange vinyl for the first time. The song, known for its environmental concern, quickly became Joni’s most popular song, and features ‘Woodstock’ as the B-side. Mitchell wrote the song based on what she had heard from her then-boyfriend Graham Nash, as she did not play the festival herself.
