The Beatles : With The Beatles (1st 1N/1N Mono Press with 'Jobete' credit)

This is by far the 'cleanest' example of a 'Jobete' first pressing that I have ever seen and the audio more than reflects that.  There are no clicks or pops, barely any 'background' at all, the playback is sensational.  This is also a very early first pressing as there is just the one stamper on S1.

Mono 1N/1N pressing on Yellow/Black label with the 'Jobete' credit for 'Money' on S2.  'The Parlophone Co. Ltd' etc printed around the perimeter edge.  'Recording first published 1963'.  KT tax stamp on the S2 label.  'You Really Got A Hold On Me' miss-spelt as 'Gotta' on both the G & L patents pending cover and the label.

 Visual grading

This vinyl is visually so impressive and S1 in particular is absolutely stunning!  There are only a small number of faint hairlines and even they are difficult to detect!  S2 does have a couple of faint short scuff lines but they have no affect on the amazing quality of the audio and aside from that the side is a beautiful example of its kind.  There are no scratches and both sides have an incredible jet-black glossy sheen the likes of which are just so rarely seen on these 'Jobete' first pressings.  There is very little spindle wear on S1 and only a little more on S2 and this is unquestionably a vinyl that has only ever been on a turntable a small number of times.  The labels are super clean as are the run out grooves.  A fantastic example!

Play grading

From the very note 'It Won't Be Long' plays with stunning clarity and depth and despite being over 55 years old there is no audio deterioration whatsoever.  The playback could not be any clearer and it easily qualifies as Near Mint if not better!  There are no clicks or pops - basically no interference of any kind.  The quieter fade out also plays with sublime quality.

With complete silence in the dead wax 'All I've Got To Do' then performs to the same exacting standard.  It is so rare for a 'Jobete' first pressing to play with such impeccable audio!  There is just nothing that intrudes on the quality of the audio and another point of note is that there is no distortion, quite rare on these up tempo numbers.  The fade out again plays with perfect precision.

'All My Loving' is breathtakingly good!  As my regular customers know I play every second of every LP so as to provide a comprehensive grading and already I am running out of adjectives for the audio here!  Once again from beginning to end there is no interference and Near Mint is a fair grading although even that may be under-selling it!

'Don't Bother Me' is another highlight and the definition of the audio is 'high end'.  You can hear each note perfectly and there is no 'muddiness' to the sound at all.  I often mention fade outs but this is because they provide a great indication of the clarity on offer as do intros of course.  The fade out on this track again plays with 100% precision.  Wow!

'Little Child' plays without fault and remarkably there is no distortion at all, a rarity on this high paced 'rocker'.

'Till There Was You' plays with wonderfully clear audio but there is perhaps just a hint of distortion on the vocal but please believe me when I say it is so minimal as to be inconsequential.  It is still the 'cleanest' version of this track that I have heard in many a year and once more there are no clicks or pops.

'Please Mister Postman' ends the side with excellent audio with no 'background' apart from a little distortion on the top end.  This is unavoidable as 'final tracks' often play in this way where the grooves are pressed closer together in order to 'fit' it onto the side.  It still plays with great power and depth and yes there is no interference, a superb end to the side.  I cannot emphasise enough just how well S1 plays - it has a clarity and definition that is second to none and easily deserves a FINAL UPGRADE ARCHIVE status it is just so impressive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Roll Over Beethoven' has just a minimal amount of static on the intro for 3/4 seconds and then plays with fantastic power and depth and a superb strong bass also.  There is no distortion and that is such a rarity on these genuine first pressings.  The clarity and power is so distinctive - this is as close to audio perfection that you will find.

'Hold Me Tight' and 'You Really Gotta (Got A) Hold On Me' are of the same immaculate standard and from start to finish there is no 'background' at all.  You cannot help but over-eulogise about the quality of the audio here, each note plays with sublime definition.  It is quite simply incredible to think this vinyl is over 55 years old.

With 'I Wanna Be Your Man' there is no drop in quality and whilst this may be getting repetitive there is just no interference whatsoever.  Another 'rocker' that is Near Mint without question and the fade out is again just perfect.

'Devil In Her Heart' is stunning!  No clicks, no pops just pure unadulterated Near Mint audio from start to finish if not better!  And rarely there is no distortion.  An absolutely stunning version!

You would think by this stage on S2 there would be some distortion but again 'Not A Second Time' is of a standard that I never heard before on a first pressing.  This again all points to a record that has been so well preserved down the years and has only ever been lightly played.  The clarity and power is again so impressive and yes no static or worse on the fade out.

'Money' ends this classic album with 'high end' audio and with the least amount of distortion that I have ever heard.  There is a little but of course this could be due to two reasons - a mono record being played through a stereo system and the fact that it is the 'final track' on the side.  Being such a high tempo track doesn't help either!  Despite that this is a fantastic version and plays with great power and precision.  A stunning final to a mind-blowing album!

In summary this first 'Jobete' mono pressing is a FINAL UPGRADE ARCHIVE copy I am confident in saying. As stated there is very little spindle wear and this in no small measure accounts for the wonderful clarity and depth of sound on offer.  It is patently obvious the vinyl has only ever been played a small number of times.  The vinyl itself is so clean and also there is more or less complete silence in the dead wax between every track.  It is so difficult to find this highly collectable pressing in this kind of condition today and with an extremely clean original cover this will please any avid Beatles' collector.  A stunning find in anyone's opinion.

The Cover

The G & L Patents pending cover is very impressive and has only very minor shelf wear.  So many are in very poor condition but this is not one of those!  The edges and spine are practically 'as new' and the corners are also very clean, just a little rubbing/creasing bottom right.  The opening edge is in excellent order with only minimal handling wear.  The laminated front cover has some minor creasing on the right side but aside from that it is unmarked and in great shape, just a small number of minor creases around the edges which are commonplace.  The back cover is rarely seen this clean and has no obvious marking, just a hint of ringwear really.  The flipbacks have only faint marking on the edging but none of the bad staining that is regularly found.  A lovely example overall.

Inner Sleeve

The original poly-lined Emitex sleeve has no splits or tears, no marking and only a minor amount of creasing.  A fine example.

The Labels

The yellow/black Parlophone labels are in superb condition with no marking or writing and only minimal spindle wear as previously mentioned.  They are stunning!  The KT tax stamp is on the S2 label.
