A quite rare Paddock Tidy record storage system, from the late 1960's or early 1970's. Made of resin bonded plywood with a mahogany veneer finish in a 1950/60's archetypal sculptured design. With two sprung blades that expand to hold up to 100 10" or 12" LPs in an upright position. Intended to prevent warping and, I believe, to straighten warped records, but I never had any success in that area.

In quite reasonable condition for an item nearly 50 years old. Some slight in-use scratches on the wood and some very minor corrosion on the metal rods which would probably polish out. The rather poor photos (does auto-focus ever work?) show the Tidy in the right and wrong position - the flat side is supposed to be the base. The springs however are assembled correctly with the wide ends next to the wood. With the original Power Judd label: the factory has long gone now.

Assembles with six capnuts, all original springs and washers included. Will be dismantled for posting. Assembled size approx 12" high, 14" deep and 16" wide.

A nice not unattractive momento of the days of LPs, and the care and effort the enthusiast was expected to take to maintain a decent sound. Has been owned by me from new and is only going due to my age. There must be very few of these left in the UK now, I didn't see another one even in the 1970's. Could even go into a vinyl or recording museum.

Including 2nd class postage.
