Cat: WRWTFWW 038. Rel: 4 Feb 19
Experimental/Electronic
For their latest well-judged reissue, the Swiss diggers behind WRWTFWW Records have turned their attention to the vast catalogue of French library music composer Dominique Guiot. "L'Univers De La Mer" first surfaced in 1979 and is widely regarded as the musician's finest body of work. Musically, it's pleasingly out-there and intoxicating, with Guiot speeding through short-but-sweet tracks that variously touch on krautrock, early electronic music, Berlin School ambient, Tangerine Dream style synthesizer soundscapes, art rock, bizarre updates of old "modal" style Tudor numbers and the kind of spiraling electronic compositions that would make Jean-Michel Jarre blush.
