American psychedelic rock band Love formed in Los Angeles in 1965, and at the time were one of the most racially-diverse groups around. It wasn't until third album Forever Changes that, inspire of only moderate chart success, they got serious acclaim, with many citing this one as their chef d'oeuvre (and in fact it was even added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2011). The record was the final one put together by the original line up and brimmed with sophisticated orchestral arrangements. Elements of folk, baroque pop and indie all colour the tracks, which were written by Arthur Lee on themes around his own lifestyle and environment.
