There's no doubt The Damned are one of our proper guitar bands - a punk troupe whose two fingers extended far enough to once employ the services of a drummer called Rat Scabies, and whose touring schedule has been relentless enough to produce so many live albums over the years they even called one of them Another Live Album From The Damned.

During their careers they have also been responsible for some sensational, not to mention heavy studio output. In 1980/1981 they hauled up in Wales' famous Rockfield recording space to lay down what became the acclaimed LP, The Black Album, along with The Friday 13th EP and Strawberries. Last year, they returned to the same spot and now we have The Rockfield Files, the outfit's first new material in 24 months and compelling evidence that they still can make a huge amount of noise. Dig in, then, there's plenty of sustenance here.
