Hendrix and Lonnie Youngblood.

Don't judge an LP by it's cover. This cover looks bad but somehow the vinyl is very sweet and clean. Looks virtually un-played. Cover however is very worn with the entire top split open. If I can find a better cover for this the price goes up! Please note that what looks like scratches on this vinyl are reflections from my copy stand.

Here's some info from Discogs about this LP:

So here's the story: In the early- to mid-'60s Jimi Hendrix was an itinerant session guitarist for, among many others, a Harlem-based R&B sax player named Lonnie Youngblood. This album and many others, starting with "Two Great Experiences Together" on Maple Records, were compiled from a series of Youngblood sessions that may or may not have included Jimi on guitar. My guess is that they comprise a combination of studio jams, demos, alternate mixes, and outtakes.

Three songs on this LP are from a pair of Lonnie Youngblood singles on the Fairmount label: "Go Go Shoes", "Goodbye Bessie Mae", and "All I Want" [aka "Soul Food (That's What I Like)"]. The fourth track not included here is the B-side "Go Go Place", an instrumental part-two to "Go Go Shoes" that features a recognizable Jimi solo. The Fairmount "Soul Food" sounds like a different (and imo inferior) take. Hendrix is confirmed to be on these tracks.

As far as I know Jimi's participation on the rest of the tracks are uncertain, although the guitarist on "Under The Table" sure sounds like him. Reportedly, unidentified someones overdubbed a "pathetic Hendrix soundalike", in John McDermott's words, onto some of the other tracks.

On the whole these "Jimi Hendrix" albums were misleadingly cynical posthumous cash-ins on Jimi's reputation since he was definitely not the featured player or even a significant creative contributor on these recordings; but at the time they provided an interesting snapshot of an otherwise obscure period in his development.
