VINTAGE 1958 TCHAIKOVSKY 1812 / FESTIVAL OVERTURE, Op. 49 ORIGINAL SCORING / CAPRICCIO ITALIEN / ANTAL DORATI / SPOKEN COMENTARY BY DEEMS TAYLOR / w/ ORIGINAL SLEEVE " RARE "
This is the largest selling version of the
1812 overture ever recorded. All because of the tremendous canon fire.
After all, it is the 1812, so the larger the cannons, the more impact it
makes. But there is music too.
An excellent recording, but beware: The cannon blasts will blow out your speakers
if you have the volume up too loud. Because of the wide dynamic range
(the quiet parts are really quiet), the risk of speaker damage is
significant.
"Wellington's Victory" has got to be the most violent piece of music ever written or recorded. Fun for the whole family.
You may remember narrator Deems Taylor from Disney's Fantasia. On this album, he tells the technical story of how the producers recorded the cannons, muskets, and bells.
Disclaimer: Played album for this listing, album played Flawlessly, No Skips / No Hesitations / with some scratchy sound 1st song each side overall it played and Sounded Very Good! . Your needle can make a difference mine is on the newer side!
