Unlrss you've heard the "JFK" Themselves before, it's safe to say that you've nevr heard anthing quite like what you'll find on this album. This is the second LP featuring the efforts of this tight-knitĀ  and exciting quintet whose base of operations is the nation's capitol. The group was first brought to Riverside's attention in mid-1961 by Cannonball Adderley, who produced their first album for this label. They are a cooperativey organized unit, frsturing young altoist Andy White, and Ray Codrington, the JFK offers a highly personal musical approach that ranges from the soulfull to the avand-garde-White sometimes suggests Cannonbal, at other times Ornette Coleman! Among other things, they indicate how excitingly and freshly young musicians can fuse several of the supposedly non-compatable forces at work in jazz in the eary 60's. Here they play; S.D.D.S, Alone Together, It Could Happen To You, Nikki Poo, Coltrane Lane, Golden Earrings, and Django. The record is in near mint condition and the cover is very good plus.
