Mormos was an early ’70s folk band from Urbana, IL, that relocated to Paris and recorded two albums for Columbia, including also Great Wall of China in 1971. Members included Jim Cuomo, Elliott Delman, Annie Williams, Rick Mansfield, Sandy Spencer and Dianne Tobia Taylor, all singing and playing a variety of acoustic instruments.
This is a marvelous stereo album — S 64979 — in the styles of psychedelic rock and folk and involving the six exceptional musicians led by Cuomo (look him up on YouTube). Delman said in recent years, “Our renegade little band kept pushing the limits, turning every notion I had about music on its head.” Produced in France, the album is a treasure for adherents of the late ’60s, early ’70s experimental styles.
