Another from my personal collection of over 50,00 Uk albums that I have collected over a period of 45 years or more!. This is an early original UK pressing of King Crimson "Red" released in 1974 on the Polydor labels in the UK. (This would be the 2nd issue label variation in the UK on Polydor after the Island pressings.) Visually the vinyl looks superb Near Mint in my opinion. I struggle to see no more than a handful of spider traces around the spindle hole. No needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops. Please listen to the recording in the player below. I would grade the audio at Near Mint throughout in my opinion. I heard No loud constant clicks or pops.
This is complete with the original 1st Polydor Press Robor printed, un laminated cover is also in excellent condition.

Red is the seventh studio album by English progressive rock band King Crimson.

It was released on 6 October 1974 through Island Records in the United Kingdom and Atlantic Records in North America and Japan.

The album was recorded at Olympic Studios in London in July and August 1974, and produced by the band themselves.

The track "Providence" was a free improvisation recorded at their 30 June 1974 concert at the Palace Theater in the city of the same name. Parts of some of the pieces were conceived during previous improvisations performed by the band live.

"Starless" was originally considered for their previous album, Starless and Bible Black (1974), but was considered incomplete at the time. The lengthy version included on this album was refined and performed during concerts throughout 1974.

Red is a progressive rock album with a noticeably heavier sound than their previous albums; it was later called one of the 50 "heaviest albums of all time" by Q. This was achieved with the performances of just three band members: guitarist Robert Fripp, bassist and vocalist John Wetton and drummer Bill Bruford.

The dense sound of the album was achieved by significant layering, multiple guitar overdubs, and key guest appearances by musicians including founding King Crimson member Ian McDonald, classical oboist Robin Miller and English jazz trumpeter Marc Charig.

Roughly two weeks prior to the release of Red, King Crimson disbanded.

The album turned out to be their lowest-charting album at that time, spending only one week in the UK Album Chart at No. 45 and the US Billboard 200 at No. 66. However, it was well received among fans and critics. It has received further praise retrospectively, being recognized as one of the band's best works, and has been re-issued many times.

The Vinyl
On visual inspection this looks superb and barely played in my opinon, I don;t think that this record had been played that much before I recorded it for this listing.. Any marks that could possibly be seen angled to the light would be sleeve removal type/paper scuffs only, at least nothing deep or feelable that woul cause any loud constant clicks or pops.  The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping. Importantly, there are no visual marks that would cause any loud constant clicks/ticks or pops during the play of this vinyl.

The Audio Quality
I have play tested the vinyl two times on two different turntables/systems at very loud volume prior to this listing. Once for you to hear the complete album. (Can be heard in the player above)
The moment that the needle hits the playing surface it is obvious to me that this has barely ever been played at all. Crystal clear and vibrant stunning top audio throughout the play of this vinyl. I heard no loud constant clicks or pops during the play of the vinyl.   I would grade the audio at Very Near Mint!

Please note! Allowances must be made for these mid eighties pressings. They are notorious for static ticks/crackle in quieter places. I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for very light isolated static type crackle/ticks that might be noticed in quieter places, but not consistent through out the audio. Debrit was noted on the playing surface after play. A constant clean before each play is recommended because this vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 30 years. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static ticks/ crackle. constant cleaning before each play will reduce this and enhance the audio quality.

The Labels
These are the original UK issue Polydor labels Barely a handfull of visual spider marks can be seen angled to the light in my opinion,  This has barely ever been played at all in my personal opinion!  There is little if no spindle wear the hole is perfectly round.

The Record Sleeve
This is the original 1st issue white paper poly lined record sleeve. This is straight and generally clean with light creasing only.  There are no edge splits or tears. The vinyl is always stored separately from the vinyl. This is how I have always stored my records.

The Cover
This is the original UK issue Un laminated Robor printed cover. (NO Barcode, only earliest UK issues) No real nasty creases to report. Any creases are minor crease lines at the edges. Any rubbing noted at the edges are only noticed if looked for in my opinion.  It is noted that the vinyl is now always stored separately from the cover. Rich and very vibrant colours. I would grade this cover at excellent in my opinion.
