HOME CURRENT: Not Our Kind of Vertigo Polytechnic Youth NEW LP
Year of Release: 2021
Label: Polytechnic Youth
Info: Brand new compilation LP, limited edition of 300
Info: Press Release:
Next up on Polytechnic Youth (following the success and ‘album of the week’ status attained by last month’s Polypores LP) comes the fabulous new HOME CURRENT full length, “Not Our Kind of Vertigo”.
The constantly creative and busy project of Luxembourg based, Danish DJ and musician Martin Jensen, this -in PY’s humble opinion- is his best record yet. Martin himself describes the album as "a collection I did specifically with PY in mind. Dom (PY head) and I had often discussed a shared love of private pressing electronic LPs from the 70s, and I wanted to create something immediate, sparse and functional; with a tip of the cap to those small run, private press records from the day. Many of which would often sink like a stone, only to be rediscovered by eager diggers, many years later; I’d always imagined, in a dusty old Copenhagen attic!”
The 8 track album was once again produced by Antony Ryan at Red Red Paw and features 8 tracks of fabulous exploratory electronica, slightly more lo-fi than recent HC output, featuring that nod to the past (drum machines etc) whilst cleverly maintaining a consistently fresh modern feel.
Described by Concrete Islands as “having been fashioned specifically with honouring Polytechnic Youth’s unrepentant penchant for late 70s/early-80s electronic minimalism; whilst still retaining his unshakeable sense of finesse and knack for grooves – this eight-part collection indubitably benefits from its stripped-down and sprightly tooling”.
A lovely record, released in a pressing of 300 glass | clear vinyl copies,
Sleeve: Mint
Disc(s): Mint
