You are bidding on the legendary Shadows Collide with People LP by Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and songwriter, John Frusciante. Vinyl is clean and beautiful throughout, as perfect as it was when I bought it all those years ago. It has barely been played, like all my top shelf vinyl. The sleeves are all in great shape too. This is the closest you’ll come to getting a sealed quality copy at non-sealed prices! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I wish I’d kept the plastic on. But then I never would’ve been able to enjoy the three-dimensionality of the beautiful analog sound of this record.
There are a few snaps, crackles and pops during the instrumental intro of Every Person (side 2, track 1), but it’s brief and certainly doesn’t affect enjoyment of the song and there was no skipping at all. In fact, if you have a good record cleaner you can probably take care of it easily! Overall, you are getting an heirloom piece with this. It is only going to become more and more valuable as time goes on. It’s an investment.
This was an interesting album for Frusciante. It’s always been my favorite. It is a companion piece to Red Hot Chili Peppers’ By the Way album with its larger-than-life production values and meticulous song craft. In many ways it is a perfect album, and it is generally referred to as his masterpiece. Chad Smith from RHCP plays drums on the entire album (expect for the finale, which uses a drum machine). Flea is on here, as well as Omar from The Mars Volta, and Josh Klinghoffer who would later take Frusciante’s place in RHCP (before being booted for John’s recent return!) I guess you could say this album captures a wonderful moment in time, and an extremely fertile period of creativity for the artist himself.
