It ain't easy, being different. It's even harder trying to be different every time, and pretty much impossible pulling it off with authentici-ty. Shape shifting bands can often feel like borrowers happy to use what's there as and when they need it, but there are the odd few who manage to evoke a great sense of adventure you can really buy into with every album.
Iceage might be one for that list if you've not already got them down. Following edgy punk, bourbon rock 'n' roll and heavy psychedelic stuff they present album number five here, in the shape of their biggest and - dare it be said - most predictable yet. Offering stadium anthems, re-demptive power ballads and grand overtures, it's nothing if not stir-ring and big as any arena you're dying to get back into.
