Shakira recorded MTV Unplugged live in 1999 at the Grand Ballroom at New York's Manhattan Center. The album was released in 2000 and ultimately earned her a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. Shakira's MTV Unplugged became the first Unplugged performance to be recorded entirely in Spanish. The Colombian singer-songwriter primarily performed songs from her fourth album, Dónde Están Los Ladrones? and Pies Descalzos' lead single "Estoy Aquí" was the only song during the concert that was not from her most recent album. Shakira's MTV Unplugged is often cited as one of the greatest performances on the series, eventually going Platinum in the U.S.
