Condition:

Vinyl: NM - (Early Pressing Demonstration Six Eye Label)

Cover: EX - 4 Record Box set with booklet (spine on box a little faded)

Background:

The collection being sold in part is from the original Musicland archives.  Many of the LP's we will be listing were received as samples when the LP was first issued and either never played or converted to reel-to-reel then packed away.  Most will be in Mint condition, but due to the subjectivity of grading we will list them as Near Mint (there is nothing like playing a record and hearing "no" background noise).  Some of these LP's are being digitized before being sold, so if you want to know the actual play graded condition of the vinyl, please ask.

Note:  All LP’s are stored in a poly sleeve for added protection and shipped in a box designed for records.  We regret any damage caused by the postal service and we ask that if the box shows signs it was mishandled, you notify your carrier before accepting or opening.

Grading / Condition Records:

Still Sealed SS:  The record is sealed in its original shrink wrap.  The cover may have promotional marks (see description), but these will be identified in the description.  The Vinyl should be Mint from the factory, but can’t be verified.

Mint M: Perfect! This record looks like it has just left the manufacturer, with NO flaws what so ever. It looks as though it had never been handled. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains. No stickers address labels, writing on the covers labels or promotional marks may be present. To be Mint the record must be play graded.

Near Mint or NM: This record appears virtually flawless a minor scuff but little else can appear on the vinyl. It should play without any noise over any flaw. The cover looks as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. Promotional marks may be present, but these will be identified in the description.  Some pops from vinyl flaws may be present, but no background noise.

Excellent EX (VG+): Minor scuffs which are only slightly visible. There may be more than a few scuffs on the cover. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear! Minor creases to the corners. No seam splits or writing on the cover or taped repairs can make this grade.

Very Good VG: Record shows wear, surface scuffs noticeable to the naked eye. COVERS: Clean, but may have small writing on it. The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. Flat white paper will be somewhat yellow yet no stains or mildew from water damage. Some minor wear to the seams or spine, but no tears or holes. The corners could be slightly creased yet no crackly bends.

Good or G: A good record will look very well played; however a good record should still play through without skipping. It will have distracting surface noise. Will also have some loss of dynamics caused from grooves being worn. Good means that it will play so one can still enjoy the music even though you can still hear noise caused from the wear. A Good cover will have just about everything wrong with it. It will have seam splits (possibly taped repaired, but only with scotch tape. No duct tape or masking tape repairs. These are big turn offs. May have pen or marker writing on the cover, but some artwork will still be noticeable.

Promotional or Cut Out:  Promotional records are generally records sent to promote the new recording to the Industry.  They can have stamps or stickers and generally say “Promotional - Not for Resale”.  The vinyl may or may not identify the record as promotional.  Cut-Outs are records that were returned to the manufacturer, marked and resold at a discount.  This may include holes punched, edge cuts, corners cut, stickers, etc.
