Sadly, Althea & Donna released only one album in their bright but short career. The Jamaican reggae duo were active from 1977 to 1979 and are best known for their 'Uptown Top Ranking' hit. Althea Forrest and Donna Reid recorded it aged just 17 and 18 respectively and on it they ad-libbed over DJ Trinity's 'Three Piece Suit' track. Elsewhere there is plenty of rootsy lover's rock with their airy and carefree vocal tones drift up high over loose limbed and earthy dub and reggae fusions. An original will cost you a few quid so snap up this reissue while you can.
