Selling a near mint copy of J.D. Crowe & the New South’s 1979 bluegrass album “My Home Ain’t the Hall of Fame” on vinyl LP. Published by Rounder Records, the album typifies the sound of the New South with virtuoso banjo playing and pitch-perfect harmonies. While many bluegrass groups of the time we’re taking a more rock approach to their music, J.D. Crowe decided to do something entirely different. The result was a mashup of banjo, pedal steel, electric bass and drums, blurring the definition of bluegrass in this revolutionary album.
This particular copy was a promo item from a radio station. The copy is basically as mint as it gets. Prior to my playthrough I’d be surprised if it has been played more than once. In between tracks is silent, the vocals crisp and the instruments clear and rich. No surface noise was heard whatsoever, for a sublime listening experience. The jacket is free of bends or tears and comes in a plastic outer sleeve.
