Beth Hart should have been much, much bigger by the time Bang Bang Boom Boom came along in 2012 - her sixth studio full-length. More so, she should be much, much bigger by now. We can only say the reason she isn't is the same reason McDonald's is so popular, and why we haven't figured out that consumerism and capitalism are beasts that will never be satisfied. Fundamentally, then, people can be a bit stupid, although not this particular artist. Delivering a masterclass of blues rock with equal parts growl and mournful, tender pouring heart, her vocal talent is only really matched by deft instrumentation and song craft. Simply put, this is the musician and singer that we implore you to tell everyone else about above all others, ranking among the late-20th Century's finest and most consistent.
