On their third full-length, 'Close', Italian doomers Messa have finally come full circle with cavernous combinations of gothic ambience, drone, jazz and 70's fuzzed out psychedelic rock. With vocalist Sara Bianchin's lush, ethereal lilting over the haunted dirge-groove soundscapes, there's no denying the wiccan channeling of Stevie Nicks on hypnotic cuts such as, 'Dead Horse', while walls of authentic, psychedelic fuzz utterly engulf the sonicsphere on the mammoth, near ten-minute epic, 'Pilgrim'. A despair-laden, retro-fitted project melding classic dynamics in blackened cauldrons.
