MEMPHIS MINNIE
VOCALION 1476
G- / G
TITLES: A) BUMBLE BEE
B) I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU
The
finest pre-war blues guitarist was Memphis Minnie. She could and did
cut heads of most guitarists around. She appears here on her first
Vocalion issue from 1930.
Record
has been played a lot ( the good ones usually are). Is worn with a
stuck groove and one skipped groove at the start of the "A" side. "B"
side plays better with no issues. Both sides have a noisy start. Noise
to music starts at about 50 /50, but improves towards the end. 'A' side grades G-. "B" side is G. Labels
are clean. Comes in new repro Vocalion race sleeve.
I use standard VJM 78 RPM record grading as noted below. Domestic shipping is by USPS Media Mail. International shipping is by ebay global shipping program unless otherwise requested. A $3.00 charge is included in shipping costs for new packing materials. I have successfully shipped over 1000 78's in the past 30 years and i assure you that your record will arrive intact. Postage discounts are available for combined purchases ( wait for modified invoice from seller). In that grading can be conjectural, your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money will be cheerfully refunded. See my other items. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks for looking. ENJOY!
VJM 78 RECORD GRADING System:
New / Excellent / Very Good / Good / Fair / Poor
- - - - -
N . As NEW and unplayed (there are virtually no 78s that can categorically be claimed to be unplayed).
N- . NEW MINUS, nearly mint, but has been played. No visible signs of wear or damage.
E+ . EXCELLENT PLUS, plays like new, with very, very few signs of handling, such as tiny scuffs from being slipped in and out of jackets.
E . EXCELLENT, still very shiny, near new looking, with no visible signs of wear, but a few inaudible scuffs and scratches.
E- . EXCELLENT MINUS, still shiny but without the lustre of a new record, few light scratches.
V+ . VERY GOOD PLUS, an average condition 78 in which scuffs and general use has dulled the finish somewhat. Wear is moderate but playing is generally free from distortion. Surface noise not overly pronounced.
V . VERY GOOD, moderate, even wear throughout, but still very playable. Surface noise and scratches audible but not intrusive.
V- . VERY GOOD MINUS, quite playable still, but distortion and heavy greying in loud passages. Music remains loud in most passages. Surface noise and scratches well below music level.
G+ . GOOD PLUS, grey throughout but still serviceable. Music begins to sound muffled. Heavy scratches.
G . GOOD, quite seriously worn and scratched, but music level is still higher than surface noise.
G- . GOOD MINUS, music still prominent, but wear and scratch damage extensive.
F . FAIR, most of music remains audible over surface noise, but listening now uncomfortable.
P . POOR, unplayable.
