ORIGINAL 1978 1st PRESS UK VINYL LP Some of the most wonderfully catchy pop songs ever written delivered with venomous wit and a hint of punkish snarl. Really great new-wave, fantastic playing, and astounding lyrics. Every song here's a winner. "Pump It Up", which in classic punk fashion is a song about masturbation, but disguised in a funky new wave tune with an infectious guitar riff inspired by Bob Dylan's, "Subterranean Homesick Blues".  "I Don't Want to Go to Chelsea", a reggae-adjacent strutter built from the ground-up on excellent percussive/bass interplay and a simple (effective!) lead guitar riff. “No Action” where Costello delivers his first tentative lyric unaccompanied before the band crashes into action on the chorus with thundering drum hits, a power-pop guitar riff and Stevie Nieve’s extremely bright organ licks perfectly matching Costello’s jittery and nervy vocal delivery. Costello expertly spins the tale of a dorky guy who’s tired of putting up with his love interest’s insistence on calling him all the time but never letting them become more than friends, his word play makes the song something supremely funny yet relatable. On the slow burning groover “This Year’s Girl”, Elvis delivers some of his most upfront and vicious lyrics condemning both the vacuousness of the fashion industry and the hypocritical tastes of men who say they want a smart girl but truly covet some empty headed sex doll that the media force feeds them.

Vinyl: EX. Stunning showing only slight tiny signs of use. The finish is shiny with some light marks where the vinyl has been in and out of the inner sleeve a few times. Labels are superb, clean and bright without marks. Spindle shows no sign of wear. And no warps.
