Nirvana : All Of Us A/B 1st Press 1968 Pink Eye Island Label

This very collectable first pressing plays with superb quality with hardly any interference.  There are a couple of light crackles and 3/4 light ticks at the start of 'You Can Try It' on S2 but is quiet and really not that intrusive.  The rest of the album plays with stunning sonic quality with a clarity, depth and power that would be hard to beat.  The vinyl is also visually so impressive with only some light hairlines.

The laminated cover has been looked after so carefully and has only the bare minimum of shelf wear i.e. hardly any!  It has kept its original shape and structure so well can hardly have been handled over the last 55 years.  Both the vinyl and the cover have been kept safe in a cupboard for the vast majority of that time I would say!

As this is a first pressing it has the A/B matrix and was released on the pink eye Island label.  The cover is also fully laminated on both sides.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a impressive glossy sheen with no scratches.  There are a couple of small hairlines on S1 that are a little more obvious but only if you hold the vinyl at a certain angle.  Other than that it has only a small number of faint sleeve removal hairlines that have no affect on the audio.  The textured pink eye Island labels are extremely clean with no marking and barely any spindle wear.
Play grading
The classic 'Rainbow Chaser' plays with superb audio from the very first note.  The playback is just so strong, I cannot fault it!  The 'phasing' audio effect is so clear and the sonic quality throughout is STUNNING.  With only one very light static tick after the first vocal the audio really is of the highest standard and Mint is very much deserved.
You then have complete silence in the dead wax which gives a good indication of the clarity on offer here.  The intro on 'Tiny Goddess' is 'as new' and the opening vocal is equally as impressive.  It continues in the same way with no intrusion on the audio not even a single dust tick.  The long fade has no 'background' either - so far I cannot believe how well this album is playing.  Another Mint track.
'The Touchables (All Of Us)' then plays with great quality and with that almost 'Wall of Sound' audio.  There is one background tick/light click just after half way but I missed it on first listen!  This track still plays with great quality - perhaps not quite the same level of clarity but still damn good!  You can't even say the audio has a 'muddy' quality because it is so minor and in all honesty I am probably doing it an injustice by downgrading it.  I will say Near Mint
The intro on 'Melanie Blue' is faultless and the first vocal has no 'background' either.  The more you listen to it the more you are impressed!  The clarity and depth of the audio is incredible and I have no hesitation in calling this Mint such is the quality.
'Trapeze' again plays to a standard which leads you to think that this vinyl has hardly been played.  Every section plays with sublime quality and needless to say there is no interference to be heard.  If there is any inner groove distortion it really is so minimal and it is still a superb listen.  This track has a long fade out and yet has no 'background' whatsoever.  Mint-
The quiet intro on 'The Show Must Go On' plays beautifully with only a couple of dust ticks and just a hint of barely audible static for one brief moment.  It continues in much the same way although at the halfway point there is a bit of static for 3/4 seconds that is a little more obvious, not loud though.  The remainder is close to perfect with just one very dull sounding tick.  Near Mint is about right.  A stunning side of music!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Girl In The Park' plays with outstanding quality throughout with no interference.  Well I did 'pick' up one very light tick but that hardly qualifies!  Once more it's the sonic quality that really stands out which is impressive as this is a more up tempo number.  Remember this record is 55 years old this year!  Another 'as new' fade out also.  Mint-
The intro on 'Miami Masquerade' is perfect and proceeds in the same exact way.  The playback is just stunning here, great depth and power and no 'background' at all.  Audio does not get any better than this!  Mint
'Frankie The Great' keeps up the good work and plays with impeccable quality from start to finish with no sign of any interference.  I'm trying hard not to be repetitive (!) but the sonic quality here is unbelievably good!  Another Mint track.
'You Can Try It' has a couple of light crackles and a 3/4 light ticks on the opening vocal but it still plays very clearly.  The first real intrusion on the entire LP and it still isn't loud!  The rest of the track is like the rest of the album - wonderful clarity and and no interference.  So Mint for the majority and just Ex- on the intro.
'Everybody Loves The Clown' plays with superb audio throughout and again no interference to speak of.  A quirky number there is no denying the quality of the audio and Mint is again deserved.
The intro on 'St. John's Wood Affair' plays perfectly and the first vocal section has no 'background' either.  It continues to play with exceptional quality and the quiet mid instrumental is more than up to the task also with no intrusion.  From start to finish there are no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  This track really does play with great depth and resonance and has only  very minimal inner groove distortion on the final vocal part.  A fine Mint- end to this stunning album.

In summary this very collectable first pressing plays to a superb standard with barely any intrusion, just that minimal amount on the one intro on S2.  However, the clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is incredible!  There is barely any spindle wear and this is quite clearly a record that has only been lightly played.  Very lightly!  Nirvana had a lot 'going on' musically and yet the sonic quality has not suffered over the last near 55 years.  Together with a STUNNING cover this will add to any high end collection.

The Cover & Inner Sleeve

The laminated cover is in superb condition with hardly any wear.  Only the bottom edge has one tiny 'rub' and the thin spine has been preserved so well with no real wear on the corners.  In fact only the bottom right corner has a minimal amount of wear and the opening edge appears hardly touched also.  The front cover remains very glossy and clean with no creasing and has no laminate damage aside from one tiny section on the bottom edge near the right corner.  The back cover is in pristine condition with no marking etc.  You would be hard pressed to find a better first press cover than this one!

The plain white die-cut inner has no side splits or tears and barely any marking just some light fading around the edges and one small 'spot'.  Some creasing also.
