ORIGINAL 1977 REISSUE 1st PRESS UK VINYL LP Originally released on Private Stock in January of 1977, although test pressings date from December of 1976 and some may have been sent out as promos at that time. Chrysalis bought out their contract in August of 1977 so they repressed it after that time. Blondie's debut album presents a New Wave updating of delicious motifs of 1950s and 1960s pop and rock. The band wears its loves on its sleeve and has a lot of fun putting their stew of Brill Building pop, girl group shtick, B-(and grade Z) movies, New York art rock (hello Velvets!) and punk into their songs. “X Offender” was the first single off “Blondie”. Written by Harry & Valentine it was originally called “Sex Offender” but this was changed so it would get radio play. The album version is a different mix. It starts like a girl group song and becomes classic Blondie – Jimmy Destri’s Farfisa organ proving the basis of the melody. Gary Valentine plays lead and again it is very 1960’s. The next song is “Little Girl Lies” – written by Deborah. It is a lovely little pop song with echoes of the 1960’s. “In The Sun” was the B-side of “X-Offender” and is the nearest Blondie get to punk. “Rip Her To Shreds” is an absolute classic with hints of The Velvet Underground..

Vinyl: EX. Stunning showing only slight tiny signs of use. The finish is shiny with some light marks where the vinyl has been in and out of the inner sleeve a few times. Labels are superb, clean and bright without marks. Spindle shows no sign of wear. And no warps.
