Possibly most famous for being the late great John Peel's famous band, The Undertones sure did make a bold statement with their debut album. The self-titled work came in 1979 and is packed with punky pop perfection. The Feargal Sharkey fronted band recorded this one with producer Roger Bechirian who helped them make such fresh, pure and straight-ahead sounds. With all its high-speed sounds and authentic adolescent energy, Undertones naturally got widespread critical acclaim, with 'Teenage Kicks', 'Here Comes The Summer' and a host of other tracks here quickly becoming anthems of the era.
