RUSH Fly By Night. Mercury / Phonogram 9100 013. 1975
This auction is for an original UK 1st pressing of this LP with laminated sleeve complete with insert and phonogram inner sleeve. All elements are in exceptional condition and sonically the LP is fantastic.
Detailed Gradings: -
Outer Sleeve: EX to EX+
The single laminated sleeve exhibits only very light signs of use. It is clean and the colours are bright and unfaded, including the spine. There is one small to moderate crease (2cm) visible in the laminate on the front cover, please see the photos and approx. three tiny creases of approx. 5mm on the front cover adjoining the spine, but these are virtually unnoticeable. The opening edge is very slightly wavy, but not excessively so and has probably been caused by the laminate shrinking slighty over time. All in all this is a really great condition sleeve.
Vinyl : Near Mint Audio : Near Mint
Visually the LP is superb and exhibits only minor signs of use. Under a bright halogen light just a very few feint hairlines can be seen and the vast majority of the record is unmarked and unblemished in any way. It is simply superb.
The record sits flat on the turntable.
The audio is sublime, it plays with a really wide, clear and crisp tone. In terms of any background noise, the LP played quietly throughout, with just the odd slight noise at the intro to side 2 mainly before the music kicks in, but I’m being picky on this point as it’s just a super listen from beginning to end. It would be difficult to upgrade to a better sounding LP from this stunning copy.
Inner Lyric Insert:
Near Mint, with no creases. As close to perfect as you will find.
The record is housed in a modern-day poly-lined sleeve for protection but the original poly-lined Phonogram inner sleeve is included and this is in Excellent condition. Someone has neatly written the title of the LP at the edge of the inner sleeve.
Matrix Numbers:
9100013 1Y//1 420 05 1 1 8
9100013 2Y//1 420 05 1 1 1
Labels: EX+
Very clean and unblemished. Just one or two very short and light spindle marks can be seen under a bright halogen light, giving evidence that the LP has been seldom played.
Please note I grade conservatively.
Postage and Packing:
Records are stored flat outside the sleeve prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high-grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use.
