ABOUT US

It was all the way back in 2015 that my dad bought me my very first record for Christmas.

Or to be more exact, my very first box of records... and when I say box, I really mean ‘DJ case so heavy I could barely carry it'.

That was it.

The artwork, the sound, the feeling of discovery as I picked my way through that box made me fall in love with vinyl. Atlas Records was born from there and 200,000 records later, that very same case still sits in the office and that very same feeling still drives me.

Only it’s not just me anymore. We have a team of passionate staff ensuring everything runs smoothly, but that love for vinyl still runs through everything we do here.

It’s this team that scours the country looking for the best music to bring to our shelves, handling each one with care on its every step towards its new home.

Records are a source of great memories for me and so many others. Here's to many more!

OUR PACKAGING

For such a delicate cargo only the best and most sturdy packaging will do, which is why we've sought out the perfect selection of packaging materials that can do just that. Every. Single. Time.

More than that, we accept the impact that businesses can have on the world and the change they can help drive by choosing responsibly. These two criteria were in mind when picking out the right range of packaging to safely, and responsibly, bring you the music you love.

That's why we love each and every element of packaging that we use to deliver your items, and we hope you do too.

All records are sent in our super-strong, market-leading mailers which are made with card from responsible sources. Their easy-open tear strips make unwrapping simple, so there's no risk of damaging your record as you fight your way into the envelope. On top of that, the records fit snugly which minimises the danger of scuffed corners. Their unparalleled strength ensures that the days of opening up a record damaged thanks to carelessness in the postal system are well and truly over.

The best bit?

They're guaranteed to be 100% recyclable and forest friendly. Good for the environment. Great for you.

We don’t like to leave anything to chance, which is why we research the most important topics around vinyl to ensure we’re always learning. We’ve developed a constantly expanding Grading Manual which we use to make sure everything is just right.

We put each insight we’ve learned into every single record that passes through our hands, by grading them both visually and through play-testing. We also take time to make sure that every record and its sleeve have been thoroughly cleaned, before placing them into audiophile quality anti-static inners followed by resealable outer sleeves.

Whatever the value, it gets the highest level of care and attention from our experts.

Here are the grading descriptions that you can always depend on us to stick to:

Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good Plus: This record has clearly been played before, but has only a moderate reduction in sound quality, despite a possible slight loss of shine and some surface marks. The cover shows signs of typical wear and tear, such as small stickers or light ring marks.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and scratches. The cover and contents suffer from issues like folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits and discolouration.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
