Original 1966 Texas garage from Kempy and the Guardians. Lucky Sounds 713 #1006. "Love For a Price" b/w "Never". A Dallas, Texas area band that somehow ended up recording for a label in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. "Love For a Price" is an up tempo song with musical accent on singing, guitar and drums. The flip side is "Never", a nice ballad with good melody, and strong vocal from the lead singer. (some brief recitation). Still pretty good gloss on record. Labels are good, except for the drill hole (see scan). Record came from an estate sale, and past owners just stacked their records on top of each other. So there are numerous scuffs, marks, and surface scratches on the vinyl. The good news is they don't have much effect on the sound. There is a small bit of surface noise on the lead in to "Love For A Price". And a few pops after the song ends before the needle lifts up. The "Never" track is a very quiet ballad track so there is some surface noise at the beginning and in a few quiet spots during. But overall, nothing to detract from the quality of the song. Note: I have seen where a couple of years after the original there was a reissue of "Love For a Price" on a different label and they replaced the original guitar sound with some fuzz and distortion. Please note this record listed is the original "quieter" less frenetic version.
