Queen : At The Beeb A1/B1 1st Press Band Of Joy Label 1989

This first pressing is practically 'as new' and the only intrusion is one click during 'Doin' Alright'.  Apart from that the clarity, depth and power of the audio is superb and it is obvious the record has only been very lightly played.  As always I have played every track in full so as to provide a 'complete' grade.  The vinyl is visually stunning and has only very minimal spindle wear.

The cover has to be the best I have ever seen!  It is in beautiful condition and has no obvious wear at all.  The original inner sleeve may only be plain white but is also in great condition.

BOJLP 001 // A-1 * MZ  2  MAX / B-1 * S1 MAX  2

The audio on S1 is Mint(-) (T3 Ex+)

The audio on S2 is Mint(-)

The cover is Mint-

The inner sleeve is Near Mint

The labels are Near Mint

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and still retains a superb glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Looking under a bright light I can only see a handful of very faint hairlines that have no impact on the audio.  The run out grooves are very clean and the labels are super clean with only a couple of small faint spindle traces on each side.

Play grading

First up is 'My Fairy King' and it plays with stunning quality throughout.  This side was recorded at the BBC before they had even signed a record contract but listening to this early 'live' version you could tell they were going places!  They had been playing on the live circuit for two years already so had honed their craft and that is very much in evidence here.  The sonic quality is so strong and with no interference this has to grade as Mint- at the very least.
'Keep Yourself Alive' plays to the same standard and you really notice how strong and clear Freddie's vocal is.  The playback is so clean and clinical it's easy to forget you're listening to a 'live' version!  Mint
'Doin' Alright' has just one very light static tick on the intro and the opening vocal then plays perfectly.  There is one click during the quieter Should be waiting for the sky to clear vocal followed by a couple of minor ticks and then the first high octane passage plays with tremendous power and depth.  The rest of the track is just as strong and aside from that one click the clarity cannot be faulted really.  Ex+
The entire opening section on the classic 'Liar' is 'as new' without any background and it continues to impress.  Every vocal and instrumental section plays with sublime quality and the power is off the chart!  From start to finish there is no background and Mint is 100% deserved.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By the time S2 was recorded their debut album had been released and it definitely has a different 'sound', a more raw quality you could say.  'Ogre Battle' itself plays loud and true with no intrusion and Mint is again fair.
The intro on 'Great King Rat' is faultless and the opening vocal is just as good.  From then on it plays so clearly and again there is no background to be heard.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static.  The playback is so clean and there is not one single negative.  Mint
'Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll' plays with great power and definition and Roger's vocal is very clear indeed.  No interference and Mint
The classic 'Son And Daughter' plays with phenomenal power from the get go and Brian really comes into his own here, the playback is so deep and strong.  This is an extended version compared to the studio recording and it is very different!  The opening section stays faithful and plays with great quality and then the mid instrumental features an early example of the solo from Brighton Rock.  Not just a few seconds either as it lasts for about two minutes and also features a very busy Roger during a couple of passages!  The entire section plays 'as new' and then the final section of S & D plays with impeccable precision also.  A Mint version to close the album..
In summary this first pressing plays with superb audio and it's only that one click that 'intrudes' on the listen.  This is an album for the Queen purist and it really does give a great insight into their early live sound.  The clarity of sound and the the power of the audio is so impressive and together with a stunning cover this will add to any collection.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in fantastic condition with no wear and you would be happy if you had just bought this brand new from a record shop!  If I was being super critical there are a couple of very faint creases on the front cover next to the spine and a barely visible corner crease top right but it really does not get any better than this.  A stunning example!
The plain white die-cut inner is unmarked and has only the bare minimum of creasing.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
