Paul McCartney & Wings : London Town 1st UK Press + Poster 1978

This first pressing plays with superb audio with only very minimal background.  S1 plays with stunning quality and S2 is equal to that with only a couple of tracks having a small number of light static ticks.  Overall the clarity and depth of the audio on both sides is stunning.

The cover is in great condition with only the lightest of wear and the original two-sided poster is 'as new' no exaggeration.  The lyric inner is also in superb condition.

Visual description

The vinyl is in great condition and still has a very impressive glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can see one faint fade 'mottle' line on S1 but it has no affect on the audio.  There are only a small number of faint hairlines but nothing obvious.  The labels are unmarked with hardly any spindle wear on S1 and just a bit more on S2.

Play grading

The quiet intro on 'London Town' plays beautifully with only 3/4 light statics and the opening vocal is perfect.  It continues to play with a clarity that is second to none.  The audio is crystal clear and has to grade as Mint- at the very least.

'Cafe On The Left Back' plays with sublime clarity and warmth from start to finish with zero background.  Mint

'I'm Carrying' again plays so clearly for a relatively quiet track.  No clicks or pops and only a handful of mega quiet statics.  I will say Mint- but I'm sure many would say Mint.

'Backwards Traveller / Cuff Link' is more or less perfect with only a few seconds of very quiet static as you go into the second section.  It's hardly worth a mention if I'm honest.  Mint-

The intro on 'Children Children' has only one quiet static and then plays without any background.  Another track with stunning clarity and again has to grade as Mint-

'Girlfriend' is so close to perfect with only a handful of very light ticks and I do mean light!  The clarity of sound is so impressive but this time I will grade as Near Mint

'I've Had Enough' ends S1 with real power and depth and no inner groove distortion.  Mint

'With A Little Luck' is very similar to S1 with only 2/3 mega light statics during the vocal section.  There are some light statics as you get into the instrumental section and then the final vocal section plays perfectly.  This is Mint- apart from that one brief Ex section.

'Famous Groupies' plays so clearly with only a small number of background statics that do not intrude on the overall 'listen'.  Superb depth of sound here.  Near Mint

'Deliver Your Children' is superb and I only 'picked up' 2/3 light background statics.  Mint-

'Name And Address' perhaps has a few more statics in the background but again they are quiet and really not that intrusive in my opinion.  I will say Ex+

'Don't Let It Bring You Down' plays with wonderful clarity throughout with no interference.  3/4 very quiet background statics no more.  Mint-

The progressive 'Morse Moose And The Grey Goose' ends the album with genuine quality.  The clarity and definition of the audio is stunning and there is nothing that detracts from the playback.  It really is a fantastic version and I say Mint- but the minus is just me being a little cautious!

The Cover, Poster & Lyric Inner

The cover is in superb condition with only very minimal wear.  The edges have hardly any rubbing and the spine remains in great shape.  The corners are very clean overall with just a little more rubbing on the bottom right one and the opening edge looks like it has hardly been touched.  The front cover is again so clean with only one very faint crease top right and a couple of small faint blemishes.  The back cover is super clean with only a little scoring that you can only see when you hold it at a certain angle.  This is a a fine example of this cover.

The large two-sided poster is in fantastic condition without any wear and I would not be surprised if it had not been opened since 1978.  The lyric inner is so close to perfect with just one small faint spot on one side.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
