Queen : Queen Rocks 2LP A-1 / B-1 / C-1 / D-1 1st Press 1997

This original first pressing from 1997 is so close to perfect with a clarity, depth and power that is just stunning.  Having played every track in full I can confidently say they all play with outstanding audio and only the final track 'No-One But You' has one light click and a minor tick.  Pressed on heavyweight vinyl the records have hardly ever been played and this is reflected in the sonic quality.

The cover is immaculate, never seen better, and still has the original sticker in the top left corner and the inner sleeves are also in perfect condition.  It doesn't get much better than this!

Visual description

The vinyls are in excellent condition and still has a very strong glossy sheen with no scratches.  Only when you look under a bright light can you see some faint hairlines and a little 'speckling' but this is common with these records and has no affect on the superb audio.  The labels are basically perfect with only a couple of barely visible spindle traces.

Play grading

The classic 'We Will Rock You' begins the album in fine style with no intrusion at all.  A couple of minor statics but the power and depth of the audio shines through.  Both 'Tie Your Mother Down' and 'I Want It All' play with infinite power and no background, the sonic quality could not be stronger, and then their first hit 'Seven Seas Of Rhye' plays to the same high end standard with not even a dust tick let alone anything more.  The 1997 'Rocks' retake of 'I Can't Live With You' ends the side with genuine quality from start to finish with no interference.  S1 plays with pure unadulterated Mint audio through every track, no exaggeration.
S2 continues in the same precise way - 'Hammer To Fall' is 'as new' and the early classic 'Stone Cold Crazy' is equal to that, a stunning version.  'Now I'm Here' and 'Fat Bottomed Girls' both play with sublime precision and 'Keep Yourself Alive' has just a couple of minor ticks near the end, nothing intrusive.  The opening four tracks easily grade as Mint and the final track still deserves to be graded as Mint-

'Tear It Up' on S3 quite simply plays 'as new' from the first note to the last and then the intro on 'One Vision' for once plays with stunning clarity, just one minor static sound.  The rest plays to perfection!  'Sheer Heart Attack' plays with its usual dynamic power and depth with zero interference and 'I'm In love With My Car' ends the side with impeccable quality.  Once again all tracks grade as Mint such is the quality of the music.
S4 keeps up the good work and plays with stunning quality through every track.  Both 'Put Out The Fire' and 'Headlong' are faultless and then the classic 'It's Late' plays with a clarity and power that is second to none, even the quieter verses have no background of any kind.  Incredible clarity!  'No-One But You...' plays beautifully with only a couple of ticks just prior to Roger's verse, perhaps the first could be considered as a light clicks.  The first three tracks are Mint but I will grade the final track as Near Mint- I think that is fair.
In summary this original first pressing plays with near perfect audio.  The clarity and power of the audio is stunning and this is an album that you can easily turn up to max without fear of distortion.  In conjunction with a superb cover and inners the entire 'package' is definitely one for the 'high end' collector.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeves
The glossy cover is in fantastic condition without any real wear.  The top and bottom edges are perfect and the wide spine just has one very minor indent that hardly warrants a mention.  The corners are incredibly clean and the opening edges are just as good.  There is just a hint of barely visible crimping in the centre of the first one but again that is being super critical!  The front and back cover are pristine as is the inside of the gatefold.  A stunning cover!
The inner sleeves are as good as new with no side splits, marking or creasing.
Play tested on my Rega P2 with AT VM95EN Cart / Denon PMA-520AE Amp / B&W 684 Speakers

The records have been cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
