Originally released in 2003 and celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, Darkest Day Of Horror was the fifth full-length from New York gore-obsessed deathgrind duo Mortician, and the pair's last with long-time label-home Relapse. Known for their horror-centric focus, each track here reliably pulls from a mix of classic, underground and full-on video nasty cinematic spectacle, such as 'Voodoo Curse' (inspired by The Serpent & The Rainbow), 'Revenge' (I Spit On Your Grave) and vicious closer 'The Final Sacrifice' (which is not only based off of Children Of The Corn II but even borrows its subtitle). Angular buzzsaw riffs, programmed blast beats and inhumane gutturals await all you sonic gorehounds.
